However, the constant high humidity, chlorine fumes, and high temperatures inside the pool building led to damage to the roof structure over the years. After thoroughly examining the upcoming costs, the city of Frankfurt am Main decided in 2018 against a general renovation and opted for a new construction, resulting in the demolition of the existing building thereafter.
A new construction was announced as part of an architectural competition, in which the architecture firm Geising + Böker from Hamburg won the contract. The new building is being constructed according to their plans.
Upon completion, the new Rebstockbad will consist of a sports hall pool, a leisure and adventure pool, as well as a sauna and a wellness/spa area. Additionally, the pool administration will be integrated with its own office spaces.
BCL is responsible for the execution of the construction logistics.
