Following the discontinuation of airport operations, a research and industrial park for urban technologies, the so-called «Urban Tech Republic» (UTR), is to be built on the site of the former Berlin-Tegel Airport over the next few years.

The project

In total, the overall project comprises about fifty individual measures of different types and sizes. The main measures include extensive renovation of existing buildings, demolition work, and construction of pipelines and roads. In addition, there is the construction of a new infrastructure channel to supply the entire quarter and the demolition of the taxiway bridge in the south of the former airport site.

The development of UTR is divided into several construction phases. This is being developed, supervised and coordinated by Tegel Projekt GmbH, commissioned by the Berlin Senate.

BCL was responsible for the construction logistics planning (work phases 1 to 6 according to AHO booklet 25).
