BCL handles construction logistics during construction of ZRE

In the Bahrenfeld district of Hamburg, the Zentrum für Ressourcen und Energie (ZRE, Center for Resources and Energy) is built as a construction project by Stadtreinigung Hamburg. Nationwide, this is one of the first facilities that sorts residual waste alongside thermal treatment (waste incineration plant). Upon completion, the ZRE will be one of the most advanced waste recovery centers in Europe.

The multi-stage household waste sorting plant will recover recyclable materials for recycling processes and generate electricity and heat in an environmentally friendly manner. Thus, the facility makes a significant contribution to supplying the Hanseatic city with sustainable energy.

BCL has been entrusted with both the planning of the individual construction phases and the organization of transportation for this project. The construction and coordination of five sub-plants on a total area of around 31,200 m2 also present a complex challenge for construction logistics. The software BCL|OnSite helps ensure smooth operations. Our construction logistics professionals keep track of planned deliveries, the work areas of various trades, and the positioning of machinery and equipment. This enables them to identify and address potential bottlenecks early on. Proper waste disposal also plays an important role on this construction site: BCL operates a disposal yard where individual waste fractions are separated to ensure compliance with legal requirements and minimize costs.

We are proud to be involved in this project, which is so significant for the energy transition, and we are committed to ensuring that the construction of the ZRE is safe, sustainable, and completed on schedule.
