Preserving history,
shaping the future

BCL is taking over the construction logistics for the revitalisation of the WAESCHEFABRIK Berlin, which is being converted into a modern and sustainable office tower.

From laundry factory to sustainable work environment

The WAESCHEFABRIK is a former industrial building located on Gerichtstraße in Wedding, in Berlin’s Mitte district. It was constructed between 1910 and 1912 by the Berliner Wäschefabrik AG. Back then, men's laundry was actually produced here, specifically dress shirts and pyjamas. This five-storey building with a basement, now a listed monument, was one of the first buildings in Berlin made of reinforced concrete. Originally built in a neoclassical style, it was later converted into an office building. Thanks to careful maintenance measures, the original structure has been preserved to this day.

As part of the current revitalisation effort, the WAESCHEFABRIK is being transformed into a state-of-the-art sustainable office building in an industrial loft style, following the LEED Gold standard. The historic premises are being developed into modern and attractive commercial spaces that are easily accessible from the entire centre of Berlin. The courtyard, which has been used as a car park, will be greened and will later serve as a recreational area for all users of the building. BCL is responsible for the planning and execution of construction logistics on this project. Completion is scheduled for autumn 2024.

We are very pleased with this fantastic commission from our long-term client apoprojekt and are proud to contribute to the preservation of this fascinating building with our services.
