The new building complex will bring together three central future fields of the German Cancer Research Center: cancer prevention, digital oncology and the DKFZ Hector Cancer Institute. Funding is being provided by various donors and the German Cancer Research Center itself.
The building was designed and planned by the architectural firm heinlewischer, Stuttgart. The ground-breaking ceremony took place in 2024, with completion scheduled for 2028. Prior to this, the construction site was connected to the underground infrastructure ducts of the existing "Neuenheimer Feld" campus. Once completed, the new four- to seven-storey building with staggered terracing will offer over 13,000 m² of usable space. The roof will be equipped with photovoltaic systems and intensively greened - as will the roof terraces and part of the façade. A total of around 500 workplaces are planned for the building.
BCL is responsible for the planning and execution of the construction logistics.
