Construction logistics
for the hospital of tomorrow

On this highly complex construction project, BCL Schweiz AG is responsible for managing delivery traffic and construction site logistics, warehouse space management, and floor logistics. The project, which is being carried out by Implenia for the renovation and spatial integration of the highly frequented outpatient clinics and intervention rooms, is centered around nearly 100 modern patient rooms and a public rooftop garden, offering contemporary infrastructure. In addition, the new underground garage with 450 parking spaces enables faster and more convenient accessibility. The hospital thus meets the demands of patients for room size, comfort, and mobility. The project places high demands on construction logistics because the construction site is not only located directly in the city center of St. Gallen but also in close proximity to the existing hospital, which will continue to operate throughout the entire construction period. Among other things, rest periods must be observed, which requires a sensitive approach to the execution of construction logistics. In addition, large delivery quantities from a variety of trades must be coordinated.

BCL's work began in March 2022 and is expected to be completed in March 2028. Currently, this is the second ongoing hospital project for BCL, as the construction logistics experts are also working on the new building of the Kantonsspital Aarau.
